Tango Alpha Tango returns to Volcanic

Portland riffmeisters Tango Alpha Tango will return to Bend on Saturday to head up a massive, blues-rockin’ bill at Volcanic Theatre Pub featuring fellow Portlanders Foxy Lemon, Chicago’s North by North and local duo AKA Faceless. Power trio Tango is another perennial Bend player, but worth a trek out even if you’ve seen ’em once, twice or 50 times before — and especially if you haven’t heard the Technicolor eclecticism of the band’s most recent offering, last year’s “White Sugar.” Also worth noting for local music geeks: AKA Faceless — featuring two-thirds of long-running Central Oregon band Patrimony — is based in town again (Sisters, to be exact) after a year-plus sojourn in Nashville in order to be closer to Portland producer Dominik Schmidt, who is working on the band’s next album, according to frontman Trevor Martell. While you wait for that, check out the band’s latest EP “An iPhone on Elm St.” (akafaceless.bandcamp.com), a lo-fi blast of punk energy recorded entirely with an iPhone.

Tango Alpha Tango, Foxy Lemon, North by North, AKA Faceless: 9 p.m. Saturday; $8 plus fees in advance, $10 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatrepub.com or 541-323-1881.
