Cycling
Registration open for Central Oregon 500+ — Entry is now open for the seventh annual Central Oregon 500+ Road Ride, which will be held June 6-10. On each day, riders can choose from a 100-mile or 100-kilometer ride to scenic areas near Bend, including Mount Bachelor, Crooked River Canyon, East Lake, Smith Rock and McKenzie Pass. All rides will begin in Bend, except for McKenzie Pass, which will start in Sisters. Lunch is provided each day, and there will be guides for fast-, medium- and slow-paced packs. The event is a fundraiser for the Mt. Bachelor Sports Education Foundation cycling program, and participants can sign up for as many days as they like. Documentary showing scheduled for Feb. 15 — “The Moment,” a feature-length documentary about the origins of freeride mountain bking in British Columbia, will show at McMenamins Old St. Francis School theater in Bend at 8 p.m. on Feb. 15. Tickets cost $6 and will be available at the door only. Proceeds from the event support the Central Oregon Trail Alliance. Lacrosse
Youth registration deadline is Feb. 20 — Redmond Park and Recreation District and Ravens Youth Lacrosse are offering a youth lacrosse league for kids in first through eighth grade. Registration costs $100 for RAPRD residents ($130 otherwise), and the deadline to sign up is Feb. 20. Practices will be held in Redmond and games will be held in Bend during the week. Teams will meet from April 2 to June 1.
Soccer
Registration open for RAPRD spring soccer — Redmond Area Park and Recreation District will offer a spring soccer recreational league for kids in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade and a nine-on-nine semi-competitive soccer league for boys and girls in fifth and sixth grades. The registration deadline for both leagues is Feb. 20, and the season will run from April 7 to May 12. Games will be played Saturdays at High Desert Sports Complex. Practices for younger players will be held once or twice a week, and practices will be held twice a week in the semi-competitive league. Parents of recreational league players should provide shin guards, socks and a ball. All equipment will be provided for semi-competitive league players. Registration for recreational league costs $55 for RAPRD residents and $71.50 otherwise, and the semi-competitive league costs $65 for residents and $86.45 otherwise.
