March 21, 1946 – March 22, 2018

Pamela Hulse Andrews, born Pamela Jane Hulse, in Lawrence, Kansas, March 21, 1946, passed away peacefully, March 22, 2018, after a five month fight with brain cancer. She was blessed to have one last birthday party with many of her best friends the night before.

Pamela moved to Bend in the early 1990s and immediately started to put her stamp on the community; including launching Cascade Business News in 1994 and Cascade AandE Magazine shortly thereafter. Highly passionate and opinionated, she put her spirit behind many projects, community enhancements and nonprofits. The list of boards she served on are far too many to list here. Whether through Rotary or her business, she constantly donated her time, effort and money.

She was a champion for arts and culture in Central Oregon and beyond. She loved to golf, read, buy art, listen to Tom Waits, inspire people, write, drive her convertible and her annual Christmas party was legendary. She lived an extremely full life, even summiting Mount St. Helens before it blew. She wouldn’t want us feeling sorry for her.

She is survived by her three sons, Jim Whitaker of Portland, Jeff Martin of Bend and Jesse Martin of Pacific Palisades; as well as her eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two cats and a dog.

There will be a small private ceremony with her family, followed by a large public party to be planned for late May or early June.
