The US Cellular store in Redmond was robbed at gunpoint Saturday evening, and police arrested a suspect after a short foot chase.

Mitchell D. Hunsaker, 23, of Redmond, was jailed at the Deschutes County jail on suspicion of charges including first-degree robbery, first-degree kidnapping, coercion, felon in possession of a firearm, first-degree theft, menacing, burglary and tampering with evidence.

Employees from the US Cellular store on Canal Boulevard called 911 at 5:10 p.m. Saturday to report an armed robbery, according to a release from the Redmond Police Department. They said a white man with a handgun demanded money and an iPhone. The employees gave cash and electronic devices to the man, who then fled on foot, according to police.

Officers located a suspect in the area of SW Rimrock Way and SW 21st Street and Hunsaker was arrested after a short foot chase, police said. He did not have the items from the robbery and had changed his clothes, according to the release. Redmond Police officer Josh Powers and his police dog Mavrick located the stolen money, clothing, a backpack containing stolen items and the handgun believed to be used during the robbery.

Based on witness reports, police believe Hunsaker was a passenger in a vehicle and had been dropped off at the store. Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Dustin A. Hilsendager, 23, of Redmond, according to the release. Hilsendager was arrested at his workplace, and police found evidence of the robbery in his vehicle, the release said. He was also jailed on suspicion of charges including first-degree robbery, first-degree theft and burglary.
