Looking ahead to Central Oregon community sports

Six weeks: The Monkey Face Half Marathon, a half marathon, half-marathon relay, 7-mile run and 4-mile race-walk that will be held at Smith Rock State Park on Aug. 18. Registration is now open at www.pinkbuffaloracing.com/mfhm.html. Registration costs $20 to $55, depending on the race entered and the age of the runner.

Two months: The first of five MBSEF Thrilla Cyclocross Series races will be held at Athletic Club of Bend on Sept. 6, and the weekly series will continue each Thursday through Oct. 4. Races are open to any cyclist 12 or older, and the first race of the day will be held at 5:15 p.m. Entry costs $50 for the series ($10 per race) for juniors who sign up early and $100 for the series ($20 per race) for adults who preregister. Three months: Bigfoot Races, a downhill 10K from Century Drive down to the Old Mill District that will be held on Oct. 7. Previously separate trail and road races, the event is now one 10K, the first half on pavement and the second on trail. A kids Littlefoot Run will follow. Entry costs $30 ($40 after Sept. 7) for the 10K and $5 for the Littlefoot. More information is available at http://centraloregonrunningklub.org/cork-events/bigfoot-races.

Four months: The Bend Ale Run, a half marathon and 10K that will be held Nov. 10 on the west side of Bend. Registration now costs $70 for the half and $55 for the 10K, and will increase after Aug. 31. To sign up, visit www.bendalerun.com/bend-ale-run.
