Bend man’s body, plane found — Officials say hikers in Colorado spotted the wreckage of a plane that went missing after it left Erie, Colorado, for a destination in Utah. Park County Undersheriff Dave Wohlers said the body of the plane’s pilot, Quentin Aschoff, 67, was found in the wreckage on Mosquito Pass. The Park County Coroner’s Office said Monday it was able to confirm the Bend man’s identity using his fingerprints. The plane took off from the Erie Municipal Airport on April 2 and was scheduled to arrive in Utah later that day. Officials said Aschoff diverted from the planned route. The last radar contact with the plane was near Grant, Colorado. Wohlers said the Federal Aviation Administration is working to determine the cause of the crash.
