Bill E. Moore, age 76, born on a small farm in Idabel, Oklahoma, to Wilma and Howard Moore, Bill spent his youth in the great outdoors barefoot, thus beginning the great adventure that was to be his life. In 1943, a sister, Bobbi Jean, joined the family and after a few more years, the Moore Clan packed up and moved to the Pacific Northwest following the harvest. Picking fruit gave young Bill an insight into a life of manual labor and although he always enjoyed growing vegetables, manual labor was not something he wanted to pursue as a career and thus he launched a lifelong journey of learning.
Eventually settling down in Madras, Bill met the love of his life and soulmate Mildred (Kirksey) Moore. They graduated from Madras High in 1959, and Bill went to college at the University of Oregon. He and Millie got married in January of 1961 and they had a son Carlton (now Carla) in December of 1963.
After graduating from the University of Oregon in 1964, Bill moved back to Central Oregon and became an Allstate insurance agent and a year later in 1965 his daughter, Andrea, joined the clan.
Over the years, Bill created and ran many financial businesses, culminating with NW Quadrant Wealth Management, which he sold and retired from after his diagnosis of lung cancer in 2012. Bill always had a deep faith in God and he and Millie attended and supported the First Presbyterian Church on Ninth Street in Bend.
Bill and Millie were always looking for worthy causes to support and Bill always believed that if you spread love, optimism, and money like fertilizer (which he also loved), it came back to you tenfold. Bill loved nothing more than gatherings with family and friends; however, a nice day of fishing came in close second.
Bill’s final days were spent at home surrounded by family and friends. Lots of love and laughter was shared while reminiscing with him, until he went to join the love of his life in God’s embrace.
Bill is survived by his beloved sister, Bobbi Jean Moore; his daughters, Carla Moore (formerly Carlton) and Andrea Kavanagh and her husband, Mark; and the light of he and Millie’s lives, their grandchildren, Zachary and Hailey Kavanagh.
Bill will be missed by so many people who loved and respected him for his compassion and knowledge.
Any contributions in his name may be made to the Presbyterian Church Foundation or Dornbecher Children’s Hospital.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Bend, Oregon on August 18, 2018 at 1 – pm, 230 NE 9th Street, Bend, Oregon 97701.
