FOREST GROVE — Sisters faced a familiar foe Saturday with third place at stake in the Class 4A state volleyball tournament.

The Outlaws were ready.

After dropping two closely contested five-set matches with Sweet Home during the Oregon West Conference season, Sisters got revenge with a five-set triumph of its own at Forest Grove High School.

The No. 5 Outlaws came from behind twice to secure a 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 15-6 win over the No. 2 Huskies.

“They beat us twice in league, and we were hungry to get them today,” said Sisters coach Rory Rush, noting that Sweet Home’s Oct. 15 win over the Outlaws ended Sisters’ long run of league championships. “Our matches were just back and forth in league, and it was just like that today.”

Sisters trailed 22-17 in the fourth set before coming back behind freshman Greta Davis, whose “phenomenal net play really rallied us,” said Rush.

In the fifth set, Ellie Rush’s two service aces gave the Outlaws a lead they would not surrender.

Sisters (19-8) opened the tournament Friday with a 3-0 quarterfinal win over No. 4 Hidden Valley, then fell 3-1 in the semifinals to No. 1 Valley Catholic, the team the Outlaws defeated in the 4A championship final last year.
