Affordable homes will soon be available for people in Sisters making up to 80% of the area median income.
The housing nonprofit First Story is partnering with Hayden Homes and NeighborImpact to make affordable homes in the McKenzie Meadows housing development. This project began in 2019.
The homes will be built by Hayden Homes and sold through First Story’s 30-year no-interest loan program. There is also zero down payment requirement and credit scores are not required, according to a press release from First Story.
The homes will have three bedrooms and will be sold move-in ready with appliances, washers and dryers, window blinds and landscaped yards.
Prospective applicants must first complete the virtual Homebuyer Education Class and a homebuying counseling session through NeighborImpact if they want to be eligible to buy a home.
“We recognize there are barriers that can prevent families from achieving homeownership and believe this Homebuyer Education class provides a welcoming environment for all families to learn about the home buying journey, including valuable tools to cultivate and maintain financial wellness,” said Deborah Flagan, vice president of community engagement at Hayden Homes, in a press release.
