The Purcell Boulevard Extension will open by the end of the business day Friday, the city of Bend said. While some cursory restoration work might continue after that, the city expects traffic impacts to be minor.

The Purcell Boulevard Extension is part of the Neff and Purcell Improvement Project and will fully connect Purcell Boulevard between NE Holliday Avenue and NE Courtney Drive. The extension increases access to medical facilities and will reduce traffic through surrounding local streets.

The new corridor will have a bike lane, sidewalks and modern roadways. The modernization of the road includes constructing sidewalks that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, parking lanes on the east side of Purcell Boulevard, buffered bike lanes and ADA compliant crosswalks.
