Fresh-picked blueberries, crusty sourdough bread and Oregon-made jewelry. It’s almost time for grocery shopping to move outdoors to the accompaniment of live music, food trucks and good vibes. Farmer’s market season is around the corner.

Five weekly markets will operate across Central Oregon this summer in Bend, Sisters, Prineville and Madras.

Redmond Farmers Market, most recently hosted by Lay It Out Events, is not returning this year, according to Connor Cubic, marketing director at the Redmond Chamber of Commerce.

Bend Farmers Market

First up is Bend Farmers Market, which hosts its first market on May 1. No jewelry, arts or crafts are sold at this market. It’s essentially an outdoor grocery store and supports local farmers, ranchers and food producers growing sustainable products.

The market will continue with its midday Wednesday hours from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., which were established in 2023 to ensure better conditions for vendors, marketgoers and produce.

A full list of attending vendors at the first market are available on the @bendfarmersmarket Instagram page. Eligible vendors accept multiple currencies including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, which go further with the Double Up Food Bucks grant program.

Northwest Crossing Farmers Market

Seasonal produce, locally raised meat, fresh eggs and cheese, flowers and handmade items are available at Bend’s NorthWest Crossing Farmers Market, which kicks off June 1.

Attending this Saturday market is an experience. There’s a food court, live musicians and in addition to groceries, shoppers will find artisans selling jewelry, candles and outdoor furniture at this market which champions creativity and craftsmanship.

Weekly attendance generally spans from 500 to 3,000 people, making the market the most attended in Central Oregon, according to its website.
