Lessons and classes to take this holiday season

Local businesses and organizations are offering a variety of holiday- and winter-themed classes for Central Oregonians to take this December.

Learn to weld with a friend, paint a songbird box, make a new set of earrings or get some new winter salad recipes.

Date Night — Weld Together Holiday Edition

Learn to weld with a friend or loved one at this date night, holiday-edition welding workshop. Participants will learn to cut steel with a torch then try mig melding, a welding process that uses electricity to melt and join two pieces of metal together. Then take your holiday themed-creations home with you. No welding experience needed. Two students minimum per booking.

Pint & Paint with Let’s Paint — Snowy Bridge

Unwind with this paint class led by Sarah from Let’s Paint. Open to ages 21+, it’s a fun way to spend an evening with friends. All materials are provided and there will be step-by-step guidance to help you craft a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. One complimentary beer provided with registration.

Nest Box Painting Workshop

Custom-paint a songbird box for yourself or a loved one. Nest boxes can make for a great wildlife-friendly holiday gift. This class is organized by local wildlife rescue service Think Wild.

Wire Wrapped Earring Workshop

In this introductory class, students will learn about the tools and materials needed for jewelry making to craft a pair of handmade earrings. Participants are welcome to bring their own beads or select from an assortment of natural stone and glass beads. An instructor will offer guidance and creative suggestions for color combinations and styling.

Learn how to make different earring shapes, ear wires, texture metal and different techniques to wire wrap stones and beads. All materials and tools included. Ages 14 and older are welcome. Minors may take this class if a parent or guardian is registered and attends the class with them. No experience required.

Winter Salads

Learn to create wholesome, main-meal, seasonal salads with chef Suzanne Landry as well as simple side salads that are great for every day or the holidays. Landry will share some cooking tips, ideas and advice on how to create satisfying winter salads. Sample several of her cookbook creations.

Landry is a celebrity chef, wellness educator and author of “The Passionate Vegetable” and “Fresh Food Matters.”
