THE DALLES – Madras wrestlers squeaked by The Dalles-Wahtonka Wednesday night, winning an Intermountain Conference dual meet by a score of 42-39.

The win sets up a dual tonight with IMC dual-meet title implications, as the White Buffaloes (6-1 IMC) will host 5-1 Crook County.

The outcome of Wednesday’s dual was still undecided going into the final two matches of the night. Junior James Rodriguez (215 pounds) came up big for Madras in the penultimate match, pinning Aleluia Fanene and sealing the victory.

Cameron Rosenfield (135) and Jeremy DuPont (145) also delivered victories via pin for the White Buffs.

Madras coach Paul Brown singled out the performance of Jucoby Frank (160), who despite losing a 5-1 decision battled to avoid a pin versus Chris Kramer. A pin in the match would have meant three more points for the Eagle Indians and a tie in the dual.

The White Buffaloes also benefited from four weight classes being forfeited by The Dalles-Wahtonka, but they’ll happily take the win and move on to tonight’s big matchup with the Cowboys.
