Oregon State athletics produced a net deficit of $6.84 million for fiscal year 2023, according to its annual report to the NCAA.
The school’s fiscal year for 2023 is July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. OSU reported total revenues of $91,588,297, and expenses of $98,423,805.
Public schools are required to report their annual revenue and expenses to the NCAA by Jan. 15. The gross revenue and expenses are Oregon State records. The school’s previous high for athletic department revenue was $83.48 million during fiscal year 2022. Expenses were also an all-time high, beating the previous record of $88.6 million in 2018.
The $6.84 million deficit is not a record. Oregon State has produced several larger annual deficits in the past, including $9.72 million in fiscal year 2014. The last time OSU had an athletics surplus was $1.28 million in 2013.
For comparison, University of Oregon reported $150,605,799 in athletics revenue and $146,778,941 in expenses for fiscal year 2023, a surplus of $3.82 million.
Oregon State’s 2023 fiscal year numbers do not include the sizable revenue increase, and debt service, from the Reser Stadium remodel. The $161 million west side remodel is expected to produce millions in new revenue from premium seating and higher required Our Beaver Nation donations for season ticket purchases.
