Wyoming author Craig Johnson, whose ongoing Sheriff Walt Longmire series, which inspired the long-running TV series “Longmire,” returns to Sunriver Sunday. Sunriver Books & Music will present the award-winning author as he promotes the latest book in the Longmire series, “Hell and Back,” at 5 p.m.

Johnson has been visiting Central Oregon since Sunriver Books opened in 2005, not long after the 2004 publication of the first book in the series, “The Cold Dish.” Because of Johnson’s popularity in the area, the shop is holding the event at Three Rivers School, 56900 Enterprise Drive, Sunriver.

Tickets are required but are free for vaccinated audience members with the purchase of the new book, according to Deon Stonehouse of Sunriver Books, which will be closed on Sunday in order to set up for the event at the school. For more info, email sunriverbooks@sunriverbooks.com.
