Owner: Project^, Portland
General contractor: Walsh Construction Co., Portland
Architect: Lever Architecture, Portland
Details: The first of six buildings in a NorthWest Crossing apartment complex is rising across from Discovery Park, and the general contractor expects the project to be complete by next summer.
Range Apartments, located north of Summit High School, on NW Crossing Drive, will feature 132 one- and two-bedroom apartments spread across five three-story buildings. A sixth building will house a leasing office and a clubhouse with a spa and a common area for barbecuing, according to Tom Cody, managing partner at Project^. Approximately half the units will have covered parking, Cody said. The developers would not disclose the monthly rent for the units.
Jay Nees, project manager for Walsh Construction, said the project broke ground in June, and added that he expects all six buildings to be complete by July 2017. He said floor plans will vary, but 110 of the apartments will have one bedroom, and the remaining 22 will have two.
Cody added that individual buildings will come on the market as they’re completed, which he expects will begin during the spring. Residents interested in learning more can add their name to the mailing list on www.rangeapartments.com.
Cody said the apartments will be similar aesthetically to Basecamp, the $14.8 million condominium development at SW Colorado Avenue, which was also developed by Project^. The apartment buildings will incorporate cedar and juniper into the landscaping and the building materials.
“We’re trying to provide a new way of living in Bend,” Cody said.
The apartments are part of a building push in NorthWest Crossing. The Trend Building at NWX, a 14,000-square-foot office and commercial building, was completed in August. The Bungalows at Northwest Crossing, a collection of 24 condominiums adjacent to Lewis and Clark Park, is scheduled to be built out during 2017.
“I think NorthWest Crossing is among the most vibrant planned communities in Bend,” Cody said.
