An employee at a dry cleaners in Prineville was injured Monday when a car crashed through the front of the building.

Prineville Police Department responded at 3:12 p.m. on Monday to Ford Cleaners, 1555 NE Third St., on a report that a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta had driven into the building, according to a release from the department.

Police found that Sandra Kirk, 71, the driver of the Jetta, and her adult passenger weren’t injured. Bryan Farrar, an employee at Ford Cleaners, was inside the business during the accident. When the Jetta crashed through the building, debris hit Farrar, according to police.

Farrar was transported to St. Charles Prineville for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police found Kirk mistook the gas pedal for the brake and jumped the curb and crashed through the storefront. Following an investigation, police found there was no criminal act involved in the crash. An officer requested that Kirk’s driving ability be re-tested.

Police estimate Ford Cleaners suffered more than $30,000 worth of damage.
