Redmond
Youth camp on deck — The Redmond Youth Football Gridiron Challenge, a youth camp for kids in grades three through eight, is scheduled to begin Aug. 10 and conclude Aug. 13 at Redmond High. Cost is $35 for early registration or $45 the first day of camp. Each two-hour day is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., and the registration fee includes a T-shirt. To register, visit www.redmondpantherfootball.com or contact Redmond coach Nathan Stanley at redmondpantherfb@gmail.com or 541-325-2042.
Physical night — Between 5 and 8 p.m. Aug. 11, Redmond High will host a sports physical night. Juniors and incoming freshmen at Redmond or Ridgeview high schools and all middle school students planning to participate in fall sports are required to complete a sports physical before competing. Parents must accompany the students to complete the clearance process and provide the pay-to-play fees. Cost for each physical is $20, which will be used to pay for sports medicine supplies. To minimize waiting times, designated times have been established for students whose last names begin with the following: A-G, 5 to 6 p.m.; H-P, 6 to 7 p.m.; Q-Z, 7 to 8 p.m.
Summit
Important dates — The first day of fall practices is Aug. 17, and students planning to compete in athletics should be cleared by 3 p.m. Aug. 14 in order to participate on the first day. If the registration deadline is missed, athletes may attend practice but may not participate. They may return to the athletics office Aug. 18 to be cleared. In order to be cleared, students can complete an online registration through FamilyID, which is found on the Summit website. Online payments can be made via Touch Base, also on the school site, and students should then turn in the receipt for payment, which includes the pay-to-play fee and ASB. All fees and fines must be paid in order to participate in fall sports.
Physicals — Students entering their freshman or junior years are required to turn in a sports physical dated after May 1, 2015. All athletes must have current sports physicals on file before they may receive any coaching instruction. Free sports physicals are offered at The Center, located on Neff Road. Pre-participation sports physical forms are available to be downloaded off the Summit website or to be picked up at the school athletics office.
Sisters
Registration dates set — Sisters High has scheduled dates for fall sports registration, which will be held in the school’s athletic office: 8 a.m. to noon today, and Aug. 10 through 14 (noon to 4 p.m.). All students looking to participate in sports this fall must be cleared with paperwork and physicals and have paid any fees and fines before the first day of practice, which is slated for Aug. 17. A mandatory player and parent meeting will be held Aug. 13.
Culver
Pigskin Camp scheduled — For any youth athletes interested in learning the basic skills of football, gear up for the Pigskin Camp at Culver High on Aug. 10 through 13. In a camp run by Culver high school and middle school coaches and current high school players, kids in fourth through eighth grades will learn presnap stances, tackling, blocking, throwing, punting and kicking, among other skills. Each day is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Cost is $25 per camper, and registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Those interested in the camp should email Shea Little (slittle@culver.k12.or.us) with T-shirt sizes of each camper and are asked to have family health insurance information upon registration.
Free physicals — Beginning at 9 a.m. Aug. 13, Culver High will be providing free physicals for athletes courtesy of Redmond Medical Clinic.
Midnight Madness — The first official OSAA practice date is Aug. 17, and football players should be prepared to get to work as soon as possible. Starting at midnight, Culver will begin its first practice. Players should plan to stay with teammates in town and expect to start the next practice at 6 a.m.
Paperwork and physicals — All athletes expecting to participate in fall sports this year should have all paperwork completed and fees paid before the first day of practices, which is scheduled for Aug. 17.
