Talking book art over lunch
Linda Piacenti will lead a “Lunch & Learn” on the subject of book art from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 12 at SageBrushers Gallery, 117 SW Roosevelt Ave., Bend.
Bring your own lunch. A $3 donation is requested.
SageBrushers Gallery is also hosting a members show through Oct. 31. The gallery is open Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

High Desert Chamber Music season, auditions on the horizon
High Desert Chamber Music’s season begins Sept. 26 with a performance by the Vanchestein-Park-Vanhauwaert Trio, and continues with Crown City String Quartet (Feb. 14), Central4 Piano Quartet (March 20) and Ensemble Paradiso (May 15). The Spotlight Series, benefiting HDCM’s Educational Outreach programs, includes a duo recital by Robert Thies and Isabelle Senger (Nov. 21) and a film screening next spring.
Also, HDCM will hold auditions for its Spotlight Chamber Players on Sept. 12-13.
The program provides high-level chamber music instruction at no cost and is devoted exclusively to the study and performance of chamber music skills and techniques. Auditions are open to violin, viola, cello and bass students in the sixth through 12th grades who have had at least three years of private study and play at intermediate to advanced levels.
The selected students will receive weekly chamber group instruction with Senger, and instruction with visiting artists from HDCM’s concert series.

Zombies wanted!
Cascades Theatrical Co’.s All Aspects Teen Theatre will hold sign-ups and auditions for “William Shakespeare’s Land of the Dead: The True & Accurate Account of the 1599 Zombie Plague” from 4-6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at its Cascades Theatre, 148 NW Greenwood Ave. in Bend. Actors are needed for speaking and nonspeaking roles.
The workshop is also open to anyone wanting to learn more about makeup, costume and other types of stage design.
Show dates are Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
