Jason Perry of Crooked River Ranch died Oct. 12. He was 43.
Services were held.
Mr. Perry was born Nov. 12, 1960, in Corvallis to Nathaniel and Esther Perry. He graduated from Bend High School in 1978, and Central Oregon Community College.
Mr. Perry was a woodworker. He enjoyed music, antiques and golfing.
Survivors include two brothers and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Peter Guy Champlin
Dec. 19, 1933 – Oct. 20, 2004
Peter Guy Champlin of Bend died Wednesday of multiple myeloma. He was 70.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1034 NE 11th, Bend.
Mr. Champlin was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Seattle to Guy Newton and Christine (Bailey) Champlin. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1952 and the University of Southern California in 1956.
He married Marilyn Griffin. He later married Shirley Koehler in Maui, Hawaii.
Mr. Champlin worked in the construction industry as a manager and estimator before becoming a real estate developer. He was a member of the Optimist International Club and the University of Southern California Aggie Boosters Club. He enjoyed flying, golf, traveling, reading, photography and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; six sons, Robert Champlin of Winters, Calif., Steven Griffin of Los Osos, Calif., Jeff Wheeler and Greg Wheeler, both of Chico, Calif., Doug Wheeler of Biggs, Calif., and Mike Wheeler of Tracy, Calif.; a daughter, Sharon MacGregor of Woodland, Calif.; a brother, Jerry Champlin of Pensacola, Fla.; a sister, Denise Ziganti of Sonoma, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Bend-La Pine, 2075 NE Wyatt Court, Bend, OR 97701.

Phillip R. Phill’ Wagner
June 23, 1953 – Oct. 18, 2004
Phillip ”Phill” Wagner of Fort Rock died Monday of natural causes. He was 51.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Fort Rock Community Church.
Mr. Wagner was born June 23, 1953, in Eureka, Calif., to Ray and Edna (Sharrow) Wagner. He married Elaine Warmington on June 7, 1980, in Eugene.
Mr. Wagner worked for the North Lake County School District and the Lake County Road Department. He worked at the Lake County Emergency Medical Services as an Emergency Medical Technician and also worked for the Forest Service in Silver Lake. He also helped run the family ranch. Mr. Wagner enjoyed fly-fishing, playing piano and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of Fort Rock; a son, Jesston of Fort Knox, Ky.; a daughter, Bobbie Wagner of Monmouth; a brother, Mitch of Eugene; and his parents of Fort Rock.

Darlene Ann Hachenberg
March 4, 1935 – Oct. 18, 2004
Darlene Ann Hachenberg of Culver died Monday of natural causes. She was 69.
A private service will be held.
Mrs. Hachenberg was born March 4, 1935, in Klamath Falls to John and Hazel (Tracy) Turner. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1953. She married Richard Hachenberg on July 10, 1953, in Merrill.
Mrs. Hachenberg was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, horseback riding, camping and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of Culver; two sons, Steven of Cave Creek, Ariz., and John of Altus, Calif.; two daughters, Jackie Ellison of Gresham and Karen Smith of Crooked River Ranch; two sisters, Donna Shroll of Oregon City and Joanne Wolford of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.

Lavern Marguerite’ Nesting

Lavern ”Marguerite” Nesting of Bend died Monday of natural causes. She was 89.
A memorial service will be held at 4:15 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, at Aspen Ridge Retirement Center.
Mrs. Nesting was born April 18, 1915, in Sainte Marie, Ill., to Francis and Alta Leinhart. She married Orlando Samuel Nesting on June 22, 1940, in Carson City, Nev.
Mrs. Nesting was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and playing bridge.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Nesting of Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Percy Bud’ Brill
April 26, 1916 – Oct. 15, 2004
Percy ”Bud” Brill of Bend died Friday of natural causes. He was 88.
A service was held.
Mr. Brill was born April 26, 1916, in San Mateo, Calif. He graduated from San Mateo High School.
Mr. Brill was a carpenter until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #217 in San Mateo, Calif. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Richard and Gary; a daughter, Kathy; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons.

Carolyn Louise Smith
Feb. 20, 1948 – Oct. 17, 2004
Carolyn Louise Smith of Prineville died Sunday. She was 56.
Services will be held.
Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 20, 1948, in Bend. She married Kurtice H. Smith on Nov. 10, 1975, in Prospect.
Mrs. Smith was a waitress. She enjoyed collecting dolls, crafts, camping, fishing, sports, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of Prineville; two sons, Tom Coble of Prospect and Ted Minahen of Butte Falls; two daughters, Rae Acosta of Beaverton and Cindy Rogers of Helena, Mont.; a sister, Sherry McFarland of Pennsylvania.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a child and her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society Relay for Life or U.S. Bank in Mrs. Smith’s name.

Marvin E. Burford

Marvin E. Burford of Sunriver died Thursday of a brain aneurysm. He was 73.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 6, at the First Baptist Church in Otterville, Mo.
Mr. Burford was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Otterville to Wade and Mary Burford. He graduated from Otterville High School and from the University of Missouri. Mr. Burford married Mona Rose Logan on Jan. 27, 1952.
Mr. Burford served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for the Maytag Company until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Mark of Sunriver; a daughter, Leslee Shlopak of Rockport, Mass.; a brother, Merrill; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
