Sept. 30, 1947 – March 11, 2009

Cheryl lost her two year fight with bladder and brain cancer on March 11, 2009.

She and her husband had been residents of several cities and towns, including, Philomath, OR; Sisters, OR; Reno, NV; San Francisco, CA; and finally Silver Springs, NV.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Casey and Lola Bowen, two brothers, Dee and Darrell Bowen and a stepson, Jeffery Shaffer.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Robert Shaffer of Silver Springs, NV; her daughters, Brenda Mathews of LaPine, OR; Bonnie Cates of Washoe Valley, NV; Becci Laslo of Reno, NV; her son, Deric Olson of Bend, OR; two stepchildren, Tracy Shaffer of Salem, OR and Cindy Shaffer of McMinville, OR; her sister, Christine Oscar of Greensboro, NC; three brothers, Jack Bowen of Alsea, OR; Michael Bookout of Tacoma, WA; and Dr. Scott Hoffman of Franklin, TN; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a potluck Celebration of Life on March 28th at 4:00 pm at the Bend Bowmen’s Club, 21140 Knott Road, Bend, OR.

The family asks, that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local hospice in her name, or to XL Hospice 139 Keddie St., Fallon, NV 89406.
