Bend, Mountain View win state football playoff games

The Bend High and Mountain View football teams both won their respective Class 5A first-round state playoff games in blowouts on Friday night.

Bend High, playing at home, defeated Liberty 48-8. The Lava Bears scored first on a 12-play, 75-yard drive, capped by a 10-yard touchdown run by Duke DeGaetano. They added another touchdown ni the first half on a 2-yard run by Gavin Gerdes.

In the second half, the Bears scored on a fumble return by Dallas Fagen, a touchdown throw from Jonah Koski to J.C. Grim, runs by DeGaetano and Gerdes and an interception return by Kyle Lammers.

Mountain View defeated Jefferson at home, 54-0. The Cougars scored on an interception return by Colton Bachman, a recovery of a blocked punt by John Carroll, three touchdown passes from Jacob Hollister to Cody Hollister, two touchdown runs by Dimitri Dillard and another TD run by Joel Skotte.
