Ciao Mamma! — North Redmond’s new Cafe Italia opened Mother’s Day at the Sleep Inn, taking over a place that once was home to such eateries as Chloe and Red Rooster. Serving chicken, seafood and steak entrees as well as salads and pastas, the restaurant is open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; 1857 NW Highway 97, Redmond; 541-699-4298.

Crowd pleaser — Patrons already are lining up to dine at La Fondita Mexican Grill, which opened just two months ago. The budget-priced menu features all homemade dishes such as burritos, enchiladas and corn tortillas. No alcohol is served. Wok right in — Yi’s Wok is the new name of the former Chan’s in Redmond. Its original owner, Fun Yi Chan, sold the restaurant in 2006 but bought it again late last year. The Chinese restaurant serves Szechuan, Hunan and Cantonese cuisines, with all dishes priced under $12.
