Portland metal quintet Spellcaster will work its magic at Third Street Pub on Monday night. Puns aside, if you’re a fan of ’80s thrash or power metal or New Wave of British Heavy Metal, this is the show for you. Just listen to any of the molten riffage found on “Night Hides the World,” the band’s third album and first for Prosthetic Records after two independent releases and nearly a half-decade of grinding away on the road (proving they’re old school in more than just sound). But it’s the melodies that hold this all together, and vocalist Tyler Loney has pipes to spare. Pittsburgh’s Midnight Chaser, Seattle’s A Flourishing Scourge and locals Gravewitch and Existential Depression round out one heck of a heavy bill.
Spellcaster, with Midnight Chaser, A Flourishing Scourge, Gravewitch, Existential Depression: 7 p.m. Monday, doors open at 6 p.m.; ages 21 and older; $7 at the door; Third Street Pub, 314 SE Third St., Bend; facebook.com/events/670526456433597 or 541-306-3017.
