Oregon State Parks will be open to the public for free June 3 in honor of State Parks Day, according to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

Camping will be free the night of June 3 in all RV hookup sites, tent sites and horse camps, while day-use parking will be free both June 3 and 4 at the 26 parks that normally charge a fee, according to a news release from the department.

As part of State Parks Day, an annual event that began in 1997, handful of parks across the state will be hosting events, from free fishing to guided tours. A full list of events is available at www.oregonstateparks.org under “Things to Do.”

Reservations for campsites can be made by calling 800-452-5687 before 5 p.m., June 2, according to the release. Visitors can also reserve online at www.oregonstateparks.org.
