Whiskey Myers brings red dirt sound to Bend

Judging from sold-out shows earlier this year by outlaw country-rockers Cody Jinks and Granger Smith, Bend likes some edge in its country. Texas Southern rock combo Whiskey Myers, which will play Oregon Spirit Distillers on Saturday, can definitely bring that edge. Rising up from the Texas red dirt scene in the late 2000s, the fiercely independent band — in itself a country music rarity — made its name through hard touring and a penchant for honest, down-home storytelling. Fourth album “Mud,” released in 2016, found the band expanding with soulful horns, piano-driven power ballads and Rolling Stones-esque swagger and became the band’s highest charting record, hitting No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. Fellow Texas songwriter William Clark Green will open the show.

Whiskey Myers, with William Clark Green: 6:30 p.m. Saturday, doors open at 5:30 p.m.; $20 plus fees; Oregon Spirit Distillers, 740 NE First St., Bend; ksjj1029.com, bendticket.com or 541-382-0002.
