California cowboy wins CRR all-around

PRINEVILLE — Winnings of more than $3,000 made Creston, California, cowboy Lane Santos-Karney the all-around champion at the Crooked River Roundup, which concluded its three-day run Saturday night at the Crook County Fairgrounds.

Santos-Karney earned a total of $3,013 in the tie-down and team roping events.

Event champions included a local cowboy, Jordan Spears, of Redmond, who took first place in the bull riding with a score of 87 points on Four Star Rodeo’s Morty for winnings of $2,115. Other winners from Oregon were Cauy Pool, of Long Creek, in bareback riding; Brandon Mackenzie, of Jordan Valley, in steer wrestling; Seth Hopper, of Stanfield, in tie-down roping; and Britni Carlson, of Hermiston, in breakaway roping.

The team-roping champions were Dawson Graham and Dillon Graham, both of Wainwright, Alberta. Joe Harper, of Paradise Valley, Nevada, was first in saddle bronc riding; Destri Devenport, of Escondido, California, won the barrel racing; and Bryce Davis, of Ovalo, Texas, won the average in steer roping.

Total payoff for the 73rd annual Crooked River Roundup was $104,612.
