Remains of missing Crescent man found near La Pine

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of Daniel Richard Phillips on Monday, a man missing from the Crescent area for 15 months.

Phillips was found in a wooded area east of U.S. Highway 97 and north of State Recreation Road.

In a news release, Sgt. Jason Wall, public information officer, said authorities do not suspect foul play. The death was investigated by the Oregon State Police Forensic Unit, sheriff’s office detectives and the Deschutes County District Attorney’s office.

The investigation is ongoing.
