Crook County School District board member Cheyenne Edgerly has announced her resignation from the board effective immediately, citing threats made against her and her family and a “woke mob” slander campaign.
Edgerly was the lone school board member to vote “no” on the ouster of Superintendent Melissa Skinner from the school district at a Jan. 6 board meeting.

“I respect the views of this community, even if they differ from my own personal views. More importantly, I respect the rule of law,” Edgerly wrote in a statement obtained by The Bulletin. “I refuse to sweep under the rug complaints ignored by the previous board…In my opinion, the most dangerous place for children is the current version of public education.”
Edgerly resigned immediately due to “threats and vitriol against me and my family,” she wrote in a Thursday statement. She also referenced “woke mob leading a slander campaign based on allegations” in her resignation statement.
Board member Scott Cooper told The Bulletin Monday, “The resignation of Cheyenne Edgerly is a culmination of a developing issue within our community that needs to be addressed. We cannot continue to do this divisive approach, which pits personality against personality and doesn’t put kids best interests first. We have got to find a way to move our schools forward so that our deserving kids and our amazing educators can make a really great district where kids and staff and community can thrive together.”
Edgerly was one of three conservative candidates elected to the school board in 2023 on a platform that alleged sexualization of materials and attitudes in schools. Jessica Brumble, one of the others elected in 2023, resigned from her seat in December before being named director of transportation for the district.
The school board was scheduled to meet Monday at Crook County High School, where they were expected to announce vacancies for Brumble’s and Edgerly’s seats.
The board will also investigate the ethics of Brumble’s hiring as transportation director at the direction of a complaint against a board member. Brumble announced her resignation Dec. 10 and was hired by the district in the same week. The school district’s press release stated she began her new position Dec. 30 though her hiring is now tentative due to the pending investigation.
