PORTLAND — Saks Fifth Avenue is closing its store in downtown Portland.

In its official WARN notice to the state Tuesday, the luxury retailer said the closure at the end of July would be permanent. Saks is laying off 100 workers — 88 sales and support staff and 12 managers.
