Sunday is St. Patrick’s Day and the mountains of snow deposited in Central Oregon over the last few weeks are mostly melted or melting. That’s your cue to party this weekend and beyond. Traditional Irish music fans can head to Sisters High School on Monday for Ímar, but there’s plenty of St. Paddy’s spirit to be had over the weekend. Here are a few suggestions:

• McMenamins locations across the Pacific Northwest host massive St. Patrick’s Day Across the Land celebrations every year, and the Old St. Francis School is no exception. This year’s festivities include food and drink specials and of course, plenty of live music spread out over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting with loop artist Tony Smiley in Father Luke’s Room on Friday. Saturday’s performers in Father Luke’s Room include local rapper/poet and Bend’s creative laureate, Mosley Wotta, Cosmonautical, Sleepy, the Tollrunners and the Leadbetter Duo; while Sunday will feature Thomas T and the Blue Chips and Broken Down Guitars. O’Kanes will feature long-running, local Irish rock band Five Pint Mary on Saturday and Sunday, with Cedar Teeth also playing that stage Saturday and Whistlin’ Rufus on Sunday. The Bend Fire Pipe and Drum band kicks off both stages Saturday and Sunday. But wait, there’s more music at the Fireside Courtyard on Saturday (Fiddlplay and Hutch & Gentry) and Sunday (Fiddlplay and Coyote Willow). And if that’s not enough, catch the Cascade Highland Piper roaming the grounds from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Whew.

• New Orleans second-line legends Rebirth Brass Band may not be the first group you would think of when you think of St. Patrick’s Day. Fortunately, Parallel 44 Presents and Volcanic Theatre Pub made that connection: The thundering eight-piece will return to Bend to play Volcanic on Sunday, a little less than a year after its last appearance in town at the Domino Room. So what is that connection? While Rebirth’s mix of New Orleans traditions, funky rhythms, hip-hop attitude and high-level improvisation may not have much to do with Irish music, strictly speaking, it will get you on your feet and dancing — an integral part of any St. Paddy’s celebration, in Ireland or the states.
