The Music Teachers National Association will recognize two piano teachers from Central Oregon as MTNA Foundation Fellows this month at its National Conference in Baltimore. The teachers, Patti Petersen and Margaret Littlehales, were nominated by the Oregon Music Teachers Association.
Each is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. Petersen has been teaching piano for more than 50 years and created art and music history materials for her students to learn about the larger cultural world from which the music comes. Littlehales is known among her peers and students for her Composer of the Year program, and has served as chair for multiple festivals and district events and was active in a Russian Teacher Exchange Project.
Donations have been made by individual OMTA members, local districts as well as the state OMTA organization to the MTNA Foundation in each of their names.
