PRINEVILLE — A sturdy defense and relentless offense netted Crook County a 6-1 win over Dallas in nonleague boys soccer action Saturday, keeping the Cowboys undefeated early in the 2007 season.
Luke Estes and Josh Gautney anchored the Cowboys’ defense, which allowed the midfielders and forwards to apply consistent pressure and put the ball in the net repeatedly.
“The defense played really good,” said Crook County coach John Ries. “It all starts with those guys.”
On the attack it was Henry Ambriz and Richie Carillo doing most of the damage for the Cowboys. Ambriz scored two goals and assisted on one, while Carillo netted one goal and set up teammates for two others.
“We pretty well controlled the game,” said Ries of his senior-led team. “We had a lot of nice passing that led to the goals.”
Daniel Teater, Chris Oswalt and Alex Villagomez scored one goal each for Crook County in the victory.
The Cowboys (3-0) travel to Klamath Falls to face Mazama on Friday.
